KOREAN ECONOMY(LECTURE IN ENGLISH)

  1. Course Description
    This course teaches the economic and social modernization of Korea. We have two objectives in this course: to examine the factors underlying the remarkable growth of the Korean economy and the distribution of the fruits of that growth, together with the associated changes in society and government; and to evaluate the importance of foreign economic relationships in promoting these changes.
  2. Course Objectives
    This course intends to achieve the following objectives: - To grasp an overview of understanding the growth path that Korea has taken - To understand how economic policies were formulated to achieve the precipitated outcomes - To project where Korean economy and Korean businesses are placed in the global economy - To comprehend what challenges facing Korea now and in the near future - To be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the real world.
  3. Teachnig Method
    The course will adopt two principal ways of learning (1) Lecturing to lay down the issues, challenges, and strategies and policies that the Korean government adopted (2) Team-based learning by conducting a group for the topics or issues of the students' choice. In taking this path, students will be consulted accordingly. (3) In addition, there will be discussions that students are participating actively and leading the discussions voluntarily.

    What is required is the student's willingness to learn about Korean economy's development paths. This willingness is also required when students need to understand basic concepts related with economics, international economics, trade theory, and development theories.
  7. Practical application of the course
    Students should be able to apply their understanding of the Korean economic development in the past, present, and the future. In addition, students will also be able to comprehend the basic required economic concepts and apply to the real world problems.
