SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY

현대사회에 발생하는 사회정치적 제 문제들의 본질과 그 해결방식의 논리들을 철학적으로 고찰하는 과목이다. 개인과 구분되는 사회의 의미가 무엇이며, 사회정치적 문제의 본질이 무엇이고, 그 해결의 원리가 무엇이어야 하는가를 밝힘으로써 현대사회의 바른 이해에 기여하고자 하는 것이 본 과목의 목적이다.

The class will address key themes of cultural philosophy, optimistic interpretations of the values and ethics underlying our human culture as well as pessimistic interpretations about the corruption and power we find in society. The class shall familiarize the student with the most important ideas of cultural philosophy and enable them to navigate the problems of modern society with wisdom and help them to find their own critical and productive vision of a better society.

The class is taught in English. Sleeping in class or doing other things during class time is not allowed and will count as 'absence'. Further rules will be explained in the class. Help with English will be offered.

English listening and reading skills are required, translations and summaries of key ideas will be offered.
