- Course Description
패션디자인에 관련된 일반적인 이론을 익힘으로써 패션산업의 주요부분인 디자인 분야를 이해하고 창의적인 디자인을 전개할 수 있는 능력을 키운다.
- Course Objectives
The class aims to provide students with the following key skills:
An ability to collect original primary and secondary research data from multiple sources
An ability to understand the basic functions of the fashion system
An ability to communicate and contextualize a research subject
An ability to understand the basic design principals (form, color, material, concept)
An ability to develop a basic concept for fashion design
An ability to develop design for a given brief
An ability to communicate a design outcome to a fashion literate audience
An ability to visualize and fabricate a basic design
- Teachnig Method
Attendance: if a student misses more than 30% of the classes (more than 4 missed classes) it will result in an F grade.
Late arrival (past 20 min) : 3 times late arrival will result in a deduction of attendance percentage.
Medical related absence is in accordance with the university's attendance policy.
Referencing:
You must reference the artist / author of any research material you collect. If the author is unknown, you must
provide the source.
Material:
Please bring adequate material as advised. In the most cost-effective way, please have a variety of media, paper
qualities and formats with you. This is your responsibility!
Please bring all your work to the tutorials and reviews!
Assignments are given on a weekly basis.

THIS CLASS IS FOR YEAR 1 Fashion design students. Fashion design year 1 students will have priority in this class.

- Practical application of the course
Skills from the class are the foundation from most subsequent classes. (Design or theory based) The class is an
introduction to fashion design and the creative industry- it should help students to further situate their
practice and to develop their own aesthetics and preferences.
