CURRENT TOPICS IN ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE

  1. Course Description
    This course covers selected topics of current interest in the areas of accounting and finance, such as changes in accounting rules and regulation and the evolution of international financial markets in response to changes in global economic conditions.
  2. Course Objectives
    Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: • Review key current concepts in accounting and finance. • Examine regulatory frameworks and ethical considerations related to accounting and finance. • Critically review industry reports on contemporary issues in accounting and finance. • Analyze related academic research papers on empirical works and theory. • Write a report presenting findings from industry and academic evidence on a selected contemporary issue.

    Classroom rules will be presented to students on the first day of the class.

    Term paper (assignment). Each team or student (depending on the total number of students in the classroom) will be given a topic review, analyze it, and write a report on it. The result of the research will be presented on the scheduled dates. More details on this will be provided in the classroom.
