LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING FOR ENGLISH

본 교과목은 교직과정이수자들을 위한 교과교육영역 과목이다. 영어교육 분야에 필요한 논리적이고 분석적인 사고력과 논술 능력의 배양을 위해 다양한 영어작문을 학습하고 연습한다. 논리적 사고 함양에 필요한 논리 학습을 배우고 이를 글로 풀어내는 연습을 한다.

This course is designed to improve students’ logical thinking and writing ability so that they can be prepared as secondary school English teachers. It also aims to help students to prepare for the teacher certificate exam by reading a wide range of topics. Though the focus of the class is not on theoretical concepts of second language acquisition and teaching English, the class will include relevant topics to encourage students to think about them in a wider social context.

A through E for Your A+ in this course:  ASK QUESTIONS: Feel free to ask question and don’t hesitate to ask when you are not sure. There are no stupid questions but not asking is stupid.  BE BRAVE: Try to use English as much as possible. Take this class as an opportunity to improve your spoken and written English. Making mistakes is part of learning. There’s no way that you can learn without makes mistakes. Get ready to make mistakes.  COLLABOATE: Work with your classmates. Keeping silent or sitting alone in class does not help you improve your communication skills.  DO IT FOR YOURSELF: This class is for you, not anybody else. Do the assignments, presentation, or take the test for yourself.  EXPRESS YOURSLEF: Your voice matters! Encourage yourself to express your ideas or opinions

SPECIFIC AIMS OF THE COURSE By the end of the course, students will be able to  read English newspapers or magazines regularly.  improve their knowledge and use of vocabulary.  summarize the articles in a short paragraph.  express their opinion both in oral and written forms.  present their reaction to the article in a clear and logical manner.  update themselves with current issues and topics.  familiarize themselves with major English newspapers and magazines.
