MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION

이 강좌는 다문화교육 분야에 대한 현대적 쟁점에 대한 통찰과 안목을 제공한다. 학생들은 문화가 어떻게 교육에 역할을 하며 교육에 대한 다문화적 접근에 대한 역사, 이론 및 응용을 탐구한다.

This course introduces the concepts and practices of multicultural education with a focus on the Korean school context. Students will explore cultural identity, stereotypes, communication across cultures, and the experiences of multicultural children and immigrant families in Korea. Through interactive tasks, classroom simulations, and guided reflection, students will examine how teachers can promote inclusivity, respect diversity, and foster global citizenship. The course emphasizes practical classroom strategies and encourages students to consider how they can create supportive learning environments for all learners.

By the end of the course, students will be able to: • Identify and describe key concepts related to culture, multiculturalism, and diversity. • Observe and analyze cultural differences in communication and behavior. • Recognize common stereotypes and biases and explain their impact on learners. • Describe the experiences and needs of multicultural and immigrant students in Korean schools. • Adapt basic classroom materials to support multicultural learners. • Design simple activities that promote global citizenship and intercultural understanding. • Use multicultural literature as a tool for teaching diversity-related themes. • Articulate a vision for multicultural classrooms, supported by practical examples.
