GENERAL CHEMISTRY(1)

  1. Course Description
  2. Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Understand fundamental principles and core concepts of general chemistry that form the scientific foundation of pharmaceutical sciences. 2. Explain key chemical concepts relevant to pharmacy, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, kinetics, and basic chemical reactions, in a scientifically accurate manner. 3. Apply basic chemical principles to pharmaceutical and natural science contexts, demonstrating their relevance to drug-related phenomena and pharmaceutical systems. 4. Develop scientific literacy and quantitative reasoning skills necessary for further study in pharmaceutical sciences and professional pharmacy education. 5. Build a foundational chemical perspective that supports advanced coursework in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, and related disciplines.
  3. Teachnig Method
    1. Attendance Policy Attendance, tardiness, and absences are strictly regulated in accordance with departmental and university policies. Attendance will be checked at the designated time at the beginning of each class. Students who arrive after attendance has been taken will be marked as late. Repeated tardiness may be counted as an absence. 2. Prior Notification of Absence If a student expects to be absent due to illness, officially approved leave, or other unavoidable circumstances, prior notification to the instructor is mandatory. Absences without prior notice may be treated as unexcused, regardless of the reason. Post hoc notifications are generally not accepted, and supporting documentation may be required. 3. Excused Absences and Exceptions Recognition of excused absences follows university regulations and the College of Pharmacy’s internal guidelines. Attendance issues arising from examinations, laboratory sessions, or official academic events must be discussed in advance and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. 4. Use of Course Materials and Copyright Compliance All course materials (including lecture slides, handouts, recorded lectures, and images) are provided solely for educational use within this course. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, sharing, or online posting of course materials (via messaging platforms, social media, online communities, or cloud services) is strictly prohibited.
