NONCLINICAL TOXICOLOGY

  1. Course Description
  2. Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Explain fundamental toxicology concepts (hazard, risk, exposure, dose–response). 2. Describe ADME and toxicokinetic principles relevant to nonclinical studies. 3. Identify common target organs and mechanisms of toxicity. 4. Interpret typical toxicology results and summarize them clearly.
  3. Teachnig Method
Throughout the course, we will engage in scheduled classroom meetings each week. Lecture slides will be used in class. Students are expected to read assigned sections of the textbook prior to class. Short in-class quizzes/concept checks may be conducted. Selected weeks include small team-based case discussions.

  6. Requiments
    Biochemistry and Organic chemistry required.
  7. Practical application of the course
This course provides the nonclinical safety foundation needed for upper-level drug development coursework and for understanding how preclinical findings inform clinical dosing decisions, risk management, and regulatory documentation.
