INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

Students will study the ontological and normative arguments for and theories of international organizations, including the United Nations, World Trade Organization, etc. The course will also examineinternational laws which regulate the conductof those international organizations and the interactions among international actors. Students will explore various approaches to global organizations including a review of those that are governmental, for-profit, and non-profit. Students will examine the contribution of these organizations to peace, economic and social progress.Current issues facing the United Nations and its associated agencies will be analyzed within this context.

This class has three parts; lectures, presentations, field research. The first half, lectures will cover concepts, history, theories, and governance, etc. The second half, students will present academic topics and field research reports.

* Assignment is information sharing for job opening, details of international organizations. Students, any time, would post job opening or introduction of process of recruitment, and other information of international organizations. * field interview is to have an interview with any international organization workers in Korea. It is a team project. You are supposed to make an appointment and to visit his/her office. Before making a plan, you need to get an approval from me.
