ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR

  1. Course Description
    This course introduces students to many of the basic principles of human behavior that effective managers use when managing individuals and groups in organizations. These include theories relating to individual differences in abilities and attitudes, attribution, personality, motivation, group dynamics, power and politics, leadership, conflict resolution, organizational culture, and organizational structure and design, organizational development and management of change within an international environment; effects of external environment on organizational behavior. Prerequisite: Priciples of Organizational Behavior
  2. Course Objectives
    This course provides an understanding of individual, group, and organizational behavior. It will include topics on the behaviors of individuals and groups, and how they affect the organization. At the end of the course, the students will be able to: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of organizational behavior and its importance. Understand theories on motivating and controlling employees. Know the organizational process and culture. Explain the importance of groups and teams and their contribution to the organization. Learn real cases to show the differences in organizations' behavior.
  3. Teachnig Method
    Attendance in classes. The university policy on attendance will be adapted. It will be the responsibility of the student to know the attendance policies of the university. Students’ behavior will be checked either within the class, with the group, or outside the class hours. Counseling is with the professor one of the requirements for the students to do at least once within the semester. Knowing the student's concerns is important in leveling the teaching strategies of the professor. Practical activity is one of the evaluation criteria for the student's performance. A series of practical activities will be given for the students to participate in, either online or offline. If they missed an activity with approved absence, the student should request a make-up within one week after reporting back to the class. The purpose of the activity is to develop the reasoning ability of the students and their skills in English writing. Students will be grouped as a team and will do a report presentation on the assigned topic. The essence of this report is to develop the speech ability of the students in speaking in front of the audience and to improve their research ability of real companies as examples of the theories reported. The team will research the company’s organizational performance. With the theories learned from the class, the team will analyze the organization and formulate their conclusions and recommendations. The purpose of this activity is the develop the research ability in investigating organizational performance. In addition, it aims to enhance the presentation skills artistically since the presentation is in the form of a poster. The final examination is considered one of the requirements for the students to pass the course. The purpose is to test their knowledge and understanding of the theories and concepts discussed for the whole semester. The type of examination will be more practical questions such as true or false, multiple choice, etc.

    It is important for students to understand the behavior of the organization in order to become successful. In everyday life, there is a need to have good interpersonal relationships with other people. The knowledge of this course will help students understand how to interact in groups and as an an individual within the organization.
