Course Description
오늘날의 세계는 한 국가만으로 힘으로 살아가기 보다는 가까게는 인접국가, 멀게는 지구 반대편의 국가와의 협력과 교류를 해야 만 살 수 있다. 특히 2000년 이후 세계화 현상, 전쟁, 빈곤, 기아, 난민 등 다양한 국제적 문제가 빈번하게 발생하면서 정부 및 국제기구의 공적개발원조 확대와 국내•내외 국제개발협력 NGO 확대로 인한 관련 전문가의 필요성이 절실한 상황이 발생했다. 따라서 사회복지의 영역과 역할은 국내에서의 활동에만 그치는 것이 아니라 인접국가 더 나아가 지구 반대편 국가에서까지의 활동까지 확장되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 활동의 확장은 사회복지사에게 세계적 관점에서 세계문제에 관심 이해를 가질 것을 요구하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 관련한 전문 지식과 기술의 겸비를 갖추도록 요구 하고 있다. 따라서 새로운 미래사회에 국제적인 역량을 갖춘 사회복지사가 되기 위해서는 전문직의 책임감과 함께 자국의 국경을 넘어 생각해 보는 국제사회복지에 대한 이해와 국제사회복지실천에 보다 적극적으로 개입할 수 있는 지식과 기술을 갖추어야 한다. 그러므로 본 교과목에서는 예비 국제사회복지사로서 겸비해야할 국제사회복지, 공적개발원조 그리고 국제사회복지 관련 주여 대상별 현황과 이슈, 접근방법 등에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 개인, 기관, 지역사회 그리고 국제사회 등 모든 차원에 변화를 주기 위한 지식 및 실천기술들을 함양하고자 한다.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Define International Social Work and discuss theoretical approaches of social work and social development in both industrial and developing countries
2. Understand the influence of socio-cultural, historical, economic and political factors in designing the social work /welfare programs and policies in international arena
3. Demonstrate familiarity with international social work profession and code of ethics
4. Identify organization in international social work and their intended and real impact on international social welfare
5. Define and discuss major issues related to international social work including MDGs to post MDGs development agenda, poverty, inequality, child labor, HIV/AIDS, gender issues, population migration (refugee, migrant workers), and issues of climate change
6. Develop deeper understanding of international social work and apply lesson learned in glocal arena (in Korea or anywhere around the world).
