<국제관계에서의 프로파간다와 허위정보> 과목은 수강생들에게 국제관계분야와 매우 관련이 있는 일련의 중요한 기술과 능력을 향상시키는 기회를 제공한다. 이 과목은 국제관계에서의 프로파간다의 역사에 초점을 맞추며 이런 맥락에서 허위정보의 중요성에도 주목한다. 이 과목은 에드워드 버네이스(EdwardBarneys), 노암 촘스키(Noam Chomsky), 자크 엘륄(JacquesEllul) 및 해럴드 라스웰(Harold D. - Course Objectives
While analyzing historical uses of media in the service of state or commercial propaganda, the course aims to foster independent thinking. Participants will be able to make informed, independent, and well-grounded judgments about the persuasion and control mechanisms targeted at various groups, situations, markets, and national interests through historical analysis of the evolving mechanisms, techniques, and uses of ideology. The course fosters an understanding of propaganda's dynamics in authoritarian and democratic, national and international contexts. This especially concerns international conflicts and disputes. The course is intended to improve participant’s critical thinking abilities, increase their media literacy, and provide analytical research tools which they can use for analyzing and evaluating media controversies.
Participants will get a deeper understanding of how political communication works, and of the role which propaganda, and information control play in contemporary politics. Participants will be asked to formulate a research question, acquire and analyze sources, and write an essay based on this research.
