학교 현장에서 효과적으로 영문법을 가르칠 수 있도록, 학교영문법을 형식, 의미, 사용의 측면에서 포괄적으로 소개하고 연습한다.
- Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
-be sufficiently knowledgeable about pedagogical grammar of English.
-improve your own grammatical knowledge and usage to be a good reference.
-analyze the structure of English sentences and explain it to your students.
-consider pedagogical options to help EFL/ESL students develop acceptable levels of grammar proficiency in English.
-answer relevant questions on the Teacher Certification Exam.
-apply pedagogical methods and accurate grammatical knowledge to create lesson plans.
-start to incorporate various educational technologies (ed-tech tools) into the English classroom in preparation for the National AIDT Initiatives.
- Teachnig Method
The daily plan is as follows:
1. Don’t be late. The door will be closed upon my entry to the class.
Put your cellular phone or any other electronic devices in your bag. Use of any of these devices in class will be regarded as an absence.

3. Hard copy ssignments if any must be placed on the instructor’ s desk before class starts. Their soft copies must be uploaded to the CTL site prior to each class (*Both* electronic and hard copies must be submitted before class on a dute date starts). No late assignments will be accepted (Do not send your assignments through e-mail or drop in my office. They will not count).
4. Assignments must follow the following requirements. Otherwise, they won’t count:
must be double-spaced and stapled.

Your name, the course title, the date the assignment is given (MM/ DD), the textbook title, the chapter/unit, etc., the page number(s), the exercise/practice numbers
5. Lecture, Presentations & Class activities
“ English only” policy unless otherwise permitted. Any violation is considered an absence as a penalty.

7. You can be excused from the class twice with no penalty. From the third absence and on, each undocumented absence will result in a loss of 3 points. Your 7th undocumented absence leads to an automatic F.
8. Assignments for any scheduled absence must be submitted in advance.
9. Any assignments that are written unintelligibly (grammatically or content- or format-wise) may be negatively evaluated.
10. No make-up opportunities will be granted for tests or presentations unless proper official documentation is submitted and approved by the instructor.
11. Due to the University policy, all inquiries and correspondences related to the course must be posted to the Q & A page of the course CTL site.

1. Attendance & Active Participation: 5% (Missing the first day’s class leads to a loss of 3 points NO MATTER WHAT THE REASON IS).
2. Mid-Term Exam=Grammar Exit Exam (Standardized Test): 10%
3. Final Exam: 50%
4. Assignments: 35%
5. Extra Credit: (If you submit an official TOEIC score by the fianl exam day that shows an improvement of more than 40 points:
-40 points (3%)
-50 points (4%)
-60 or more points (5%)
* All assignments must be double-spaced in a 12-point font.

0. This course is open to English education majors and double majors only. Others need the instructor's consent to enroll in this class.
0. No repeaters are allowed. (No students who already took this or a comparable course are allowed to take this course.)
1. Do NOT take this class if you do not plan to study very hard or if you are busy with other schedules. Only those who can devote themselves to the course should take it.
2. Do NOT take this class if you complain about or give up on a class that finishes the textbook because you cannot keep up with it.
3. Do NOT take this class if you cannot take a course, the majority of which is taught in English. This means that you must be able to read, write, and discuss in English.
4. Any violations of academic integrity (e.g., plagiarism, cheating, illegal textbooks, etc.) lead to an automatic F in this class.
- Practical application of the course
-This course will provide pedagogical basis of teaching English grammar and opportunities to practice teaching for the secondary-level grammar class.
-This is one of the core English teacher education courses to prepare pre-service teachers for their teacher practicum as well as for the teacher certificate examination.
-This class helps current or prospective English instructors to:
--learn a range of grammar rules and
--select one that fits the best for their pedagogical goals and objectives.
