- Course Description
In this course, wewill ask some elementary ethical questions: What are good ways of living and acting? Should we seek pleasure, knowledge, success, the realization of our dreams, well-being, happiness, virtue, justice …? Must we be good to other people? What are our responsibilities? ? Our traditions give us answers to these questions. But should we always accept them? Do we have reason to follow the moral norms of our society? ? Various philosophers in East and West have tried to answer such question. It will be helpful to look at their answers.
- Course Objectives
This class is for beginners and gives an overview to important ideas of the ethics of a "Good Life". The aim of the class is to reflect on those ideas that shape modern 'western-style' societies and aks how and if these ideas make us better and or happier?
- Teachnig Method
The class will be taught in English. Intensive help with the English language will be provided, there will be summaries of main points in Korean, dictionaries can be used, and questions concerning language and vocabulary can be asked.
