ADVANCED ENGLISH CONVERSATION(2)

This course will focus on helping students further develop their skills and confidence in conversational English. It will continue to focus on providing students with opportunities to communicate in a variety of situations, e.g., pair and group activities. Students will enhance their ability to discuss a broad range of topics; present information in a variety of contexts, e.g., informal communication, public presentation; and communicate in a manner that is both culturally appropriate and idiomatic. They will also have opportunities to increase their competence in listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary, pronunciation, oral grammar, and conversational strategy use.

A) Purpose: To engage students in active, meaningful conversation using advanced discussion topics in order to develop critical thinking. The course goal is to increase spoken and written fluency in English and to improve academic writing through weekly assignments and workshops. B) Course Content: Listening, reading, and writing exercises to complement class conversations and speaking exercises. Individual and group activities, which provide opportunities to apply lesson content to focused discussions as well as to develop written assignments.

****Attendance Grade- Students will be allowed two (2) unexcused absences which will not affect their grades. Each additional absence will result in a one point deduction from their attendance score. More than ten (10) unexcused absences will result in a failing (F) grade for the semester according to Keimyung University’s attendance policy.****
