- Course Description
This course continues to develop the skills of students in the theatre field of physical expression. It helps the actor to be able to develop his body and all movements, and all possibilities so that he could express all his emotions, his feeling in the clever, bright, instinctive way.
The course is targeted at studying the basic acting techniques and at mastering complex elements of inner and outer techniques of an actor, realized on the base of K.S. Stanislavsky`s theory as well as on the scientific and practical achievements of modern theatre.
- Course Objectives
This course is designed to help students develop skills necessary for a professional life in the theatre. After completion of this course, students should have a greater understanding of the following:
1. how to access emotion
2. how to quickly and effectively change emotion
3. how to project emotion through the voice, body and face
4. how to interact with another actor through a communication of emotion
5. how to utilize emotional tension and physical tension
6. how to focus energy through the voice, face and body
7. how to recognize their own strengths and assets that they can use when creating character
- Teachnig Method
Students are expected to attend all lectures and complete all assignments on time. Absences, including preplanned absences, will be handled on a case by case basis.
Assignments that are completed late are subject to a lower grade.

This course is open to theatre and musical theatre majors.
Acceptance into the class may be subject to the instructor‘s approval.
Priority will be given to upper class students (4th years, then 3rd years, etc).
- Practical application of the course
This course is a performance and participation course, and will use exercises, songs and scenes designed to help the
student understand the emotional access, projection, and point of view.
These skills serve as basic tools for the professional stage actor. Through a more thorough understanding of how to access and articulate complex emotions, students in turn learn how to create complex characters, leading them to be better equipped for a professional life in the theatre.
