SEMICONDUCTOR SOLAR CELL MATERIALS

  1. Course Description
    This class studies materials related to renewable energy production. various renewable energy sources will be introduced. The main topic is silicon based semiconductor solar materials. The class will introduce the use of crystalline and amorphous silicon solar cells, various thin film structures, the principle of operation for solar cells, and efficiencies for various types of solar cells. The class also discuss various thin film deposition methods for solar cell manufacturing.

    The students learn the energy consumption in the world, the operating principle for the semiconductor solar cell, and production methods.
