- Course Description
The purpose of this class is to provide basic instruction in reading and analyzing literature using the critical approach known as "reader-response." Instruction will cover three literary genres (poetry, short fiction and drama) by applying the elements of each genre to specific reading selections. This course will include direct instruction, group discussion, self-discovery and self-expression. Reading selections will include American writers as well as translated versions of famous and contemporary South Korean writers. All class work, including a few short writing assignments, will be in English.

Students will learn some basic theory as well as major historical, social, and economic changes that took place in the 20th century in the west.

No phones or laptops are allowed in class. If air quality is bad class will be held online over zoom.
