CAD AND APPLICATIONS

  1. Course Description
  2. Course Objectives
As it's well-known, CAD is considered a fundamental skill for all engineers who plan to work in various industries. This course provides students with an introduction to modern 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and geometric modelling with a focus on industrial applications. Students will learn how to use industry-leading CAD software programs such as Rhinoceros 3D (an analogue of CATIA which is popular among mechanical engineers) to model industrial objects and then create basic, industry-standard 3D models. Rhinoceros 3D is a widely used software for CAD, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and reverse engineering in a variety of industries, including architecture, industrial design (e.g., automotive design), and product design (e.g., jewellery design), multimedia, and graphic design. The goal of this course is to teach modern CAD trends, approaches and methods without focusing too much on conventional, frequently out-of-date methodologies.
  3. Teachnig Method
    • Please arrive on time. • Turn off your cell phone. • Do not leave class early without first getting permission from the professor. • Do not sleep in class. • If you're confused, ask questions. • Try not to distract or annoy your classmates. • Students who have problems with the attendance app can contact the department office for help.

  5. Assessment
If a student misses the final exam without any reason approved by the university, he/she will receive an F. Assignments should only be submitted via the CTL system, not by email, and will be evaluated by the end of the semester.
  6. Requiments
    • Basic computer skills (MS Office). • Being ready for working in small groups and helping each other.
  7. Practical application of the course
    • Learned engineering terms (glossary) will be helpful for your future international cooperation. • Can be applied for Virtual Reality (VR) course for studying meshes and rendering. • Will be useful for improving your creativity (jobs of the future will need two important qualities: intelligence and creativity). • Can be useful for your future job in the design industry.
