CHARACTER STUDIES OF FILMS

  1. Course Description
    Through character development and analysis, students will grasp important elements that add to the depth of storytelling. The class is designed to have students comprehend, interpret, and draw conclusions about certain characters since characters are of crucial importance to the production. By doing so, students will gain profound insight on how to form a great storyline.
  2. Course Objectives
    This course examines how narrative films are conceived and crafted by developing an understanding of the underlying principles of filmmaking. These principles will be explored through a series of practical exercises based around the key creative components of filmmaking.
  3. Teachnig Method
    - The class will be taught in English. - The class will be held by analyzing various films.

    - Participation of events for personal development is acceptable. - Attendance accepted for missing class due to COVID. For other sicknesses, medical documents need to be submitted. - At least one third of attendance is required for a passing grade (under the condition that the student completed both tests.) - For the evaluation, "attitude" refers to paying attention in class.

    · think critically and analytically about film, narrative structure and the creative process · learn about and practise key filmmaking techniques · articulate their understanding of how the key elements of film are put together and how they affect audience response · understand the craft of filmmaking sufficiently to enable them to go forward and make their own short film projects
