CYCLING FOR FITNESS AND WELLNESS

  1. Course Description
    -To understand fundamental cycling theories, skills, and principles -To be aware of cycling etiquettes -To appreciate cycling as a physical activity to achieve fitness and wellness -To practice these knowledge and skills to real world setting (road rides)
  2. Course Objectives
    Students will gain an understanding of the physiological, psychological, and social benefits of cycling
  3. Teachnig Method
    Student should be ALWAYS arrive BEFORE or ON TIME during group rides. Once the group leaves the meeting area, no students are allowed to follow. This means absence during that particular ride. Always stay close with the group. Follow the group's pace as much as possible. Always follow road rules and practice bike etiquette

    A student should already know how to ride a bike. MANDATORY equipment to prepare by the students: a: HELMET b. BIKE (preferably MTB, Road bike, Gravel bike)** c. REPAIR KIT (packable) b. Water/light snack ** Ideally, students are required to bring their own bikes. However, for those students who have no bike, a bike can be borrowed from the PE Department based on draw lots.

    A good setting to improve one's social and communication skills A training area to improve bike skills to be used as a mode of transportation or recreation
