GLOBAL BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

  1. Course Description
    글로벌 커뮤니케이션 관련 이론 및 실무적용 가능한 사례중심의 강의를 기본으로 진행되며, 학생들의 이해를 돕기 위하여 커뮤니케이션 관련 이론 및 다양한 관련 영상 자료 등을 활용하여 강의하고, 학생들의 사례 발표 및 토의를 통하여 효과적인 글로벌 비즈니스 커뮤니케이션의 스킬들을 배양할 수 있도록 한다.
  2. Course Objectives
    By the end of the semester, students should be able to: - Discuss cross-cultural concepts and the effects of culture. - Understand how to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people based on their cultures. - Discover the diverse cultural characteristics that influence business practices and decisions worldwide. - Develop personal characteristics based on cultural background awareness since effective intercultural communication includes open-mindedness, curiosity, patience, and self-awareness. - Develop students’ competence in “how do I foster learning and communication through a global perspective.” - Learn how culture impacts marketing strategies, negotiating, decision-making, and leadership. - Analyze and evaluate how culture affects business.

    1. Smartphones should not be used for personal calls, messaging, or playing games; smartphones can be used as a dictionary or for classroom activities. 2. Lateness will result in an unexcused absence (3 times late = 1 unexcused absence). 3. All forms of cheating are strongly discouraged.

    It is preferred for students who wish to enroll in this class to have essential English communication and digital literacy skills. Since the course is student-centered, students are encouraged to participate in class activities and discussions.
  7. Practical application of the course
    Global Business Communication can help develop key communication competencies central to understanding how business works across cultures. This course focuses on three main areas of intercultural communication competencies: knowledge (needed to cope with a diverse environment), skills (communication and performance), and personal attributes (traits).
