힐러리 클린턴 전 미국 국무장관이 지적했듯이 21세기는 '태평양 세기'가 될 것이며 이는 미래에 아시아 태평양 지역이 세계 정세의 중심이 되는 것을 의미한다. 아시아 태평양 지역에는 두 강국인 미국과 중국뿐만 아니라 일본, 인도, 파키스탄, 러시아와 같은 다른 주요 경제 및 군사 강국이 자리잡고 있어 그 중요성이 더욱 더 부각되고 있다. 본 강의는 불확실한 21세기 태평양 지역의 강대국과 신흥강소국들간의 점증하는 갈등과 협력의 과제를 해결하기 위해 필요한 조건을 공부하고 대안을 연구하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

• Student Attendance/Participation: 10 percent of the total grade.
