Course Objectives
- Understand and explain the causes and consequences of overpopulation, energy consumption, global warming, air/water pollution, and the decline of biodiversity
- Develop a basic vocabulary of environmental studies terminology, such as understanding concepts of sustainability, ecological footprint, biodiversity, ecosystem services, etc.
- Develop an appreciation for, and understanding of, the complexity of our wonderful planet
- Describe the relationship between the geological and climatic development of the Earth
- Give an account of natural climatic and environmental changes which have occurred over different time scales
- Account for the effect of climate change on the environment and on society and how society works with the effects of climate change and climate adaptation
