- Course Description
가상현실은 실재하거나 상상의 환경을 인간이 상호작용할 수 있도록 가상으로 만들어 놓는 컴퓨터 기술이다. 이 기술은 보고, 느끼고, 들으며 심지어 냄새 맡는 등의 감각적 경험을 인공적으로 할 수 있게 한다. 이 과목에서는 가상현실의 원리를 이해하고 실제 가상현실 시스템에 대한 경험을 하게 한다. 가상현실은 인간의 감각기관에게 종합적인 자극을 가함으로써 뇌의 기능을 속이는 것이기 때문에, 효과적이고 간편한 VR 시스템을 개발하는 것은 매우 도전적인 작업이다. 이 과목에서는 이를 위하여 컴퓨터 그래픽, 추적 시스템 및 지각심리학 등을 포함한 다양한 영역의 기술들을 혼합하여 강의한다. 또한, 가상현실을 구현할 수 있는 Blender나 Unity 3D 등의 소프트웨어를 익히게 된다.
- Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to provide students with both a deep understanding of the fundamentals of VR and to gain practical experience. Because VR tricks our brains by presenting synthetic stimuli to our senses, it is extremely challenging to develop and analyze VR systems that are both effective and comfortable. To get a handle on these issues, this course will fuse knowledge from a variety of relevant topics, including computer graphics, tracking systems, and perceptual psychology. Additionally, students can get a chance to learn freeware software such as Blender (https://www.blender.org/).

• Turn off your cell phone.
• Do not leave class early without first getting permission from the professor.
• Do not sleep in class.
• If you're confused, ask questions.
• Try not to distract or annoy your classmates.
• Students who have problems with the attendance app can contact the department office for help.

- Assessment
If a student misses the final exam without any reason approved by the university, he/she will receive an F.
Assignments should only be submitted via the CTL system, not by email, and will be evaluated by the end of the semester.
