  1. Course Description
    이 과목의 목적은 외국어 계열 전공 학생들이 각자의 심화된 전공영역 교육과정을 이수하는 데 필수적으로 수반되는 외국어 능력을 기르는 데 있다. 전공 외국어 학습 1단계로, 특별히 말하기, 듣기 능력 배양에 중점을 둔다. 이를 위해 일상생활에 필요한 장면들을 설정하여 각 장면에 필요한 기초적이고 필수적인 회화 표현을 배운다. 어휘와 표현을 중심으로 하면서, 각 표현에 필요한 기초적인 문법 지식을 습득한다.

  3. Teachnig Method
    English English is the language of instruction and interaction. Minus points for unnecessary use of other languages. Participation is essential and graded. Get involved and ask / answer questions. Smartphones & Class Etiquette Turn off your smartphone or set it to silent mode before you enter class. Only use it for study purposes. POINTS are deducted from your final score if you talk or send messages on your phone, leave class without asking to be excused, fail to take part in tasks, do not speak, or behave rudely. Texts Bring the course textbook, a notebook, and something to write with to every class. Keep class handouts in a file for future reference. Assignments and Assessments Failure to complete a CTL audio task by the deadline will result in a score of ZERO and a 5 POINT deduction from your assignment score. There are 2 audio post tasks, worth 5 POINTS each. Post your audio file well in advance of the deadline to avoid any problems. Failure to deliver the midterm presentation or take part in the final interview on the designated day will lead to an instant 5 POINT deduction. You will receive a ZERO score for any uncompleted assessment and will likely fail the course completely. If you have a valid reason for being unable to complete an assessment on time, you must contact me BEFORE the due date. Cheating Cheating, or plagiarism, is presenting the ideas or words of another person as your own. This class has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on cheating. Students who lift sentences without any citation for use in their presentations will receive a score of ZERO.

    To pass this course you must Actively participate in lessons. Complete all class work and assignments (audio posts, presentation, quizzes, and interview) on time. Penalties apply to assessments completed late. Attend a minimum of 2/3 of scheduled classes. If you miss 9 classes or more without providing official certification from the college admin team, you will get an F grade. Each absence results in a 1 POINT deduction from your attendance score. Arriving to class 20 minutes late or more is an absence. Each late arrival counts as 1/3 of an absence. A student is late if he / she arrives after roll-call.
  7. Practical application of the course
    This course will prepare you for the spoken components of the TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS tests. In addition, you will be able to utilise the conversation skills learned in this class in a variety of real-life situations. These include having informal conversations with native speakers, taking interviews in English, and using functional English when working, studying, or travelling in an English-speaking country.
