INTERCULTURAL AWARENESS AND COMMUNICATION

이 수업은 학습자들이 다양한 문화 배경을 가진 사람들과 효과적으로 의사소통할 수 있는 지식과 기술을 개발할 수 있도록 돕는 것을 목표로 한다. 이론적 틀, 실용적인 활동, 그리고 사례 연구의 조합을 통해 학생들은 문화적 차이를 탐구하고 자신감과 역량을 향상시키는 전략을 배울 수 있다. 이 과정을 통해 학생들은 자신의 전문 기술을 향상시키고, 시각을 넓히며, 문화간 이해와 의사소통 기술을 발달시킬 수 있다.

This class will help students to consider culture-language connections and how these connections affect how we perceive and act in the world. The course begins by exploring culture and how it shapes our thought and behaviour. We will then look at several aspects of the relationship between culture and language, covering areas such as pragmatics, globalisation, and the status of English around the world. Finally, students will consider English language culture in Korea and how it might affect Korean English language learners and teachers.

Standard rules regarding absences, late submissions, plagiarism, and cheating apply. These will be outlined in class.
