President of Keimyung University received honorary doctorate from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies
- The Honorary Doctorate is given to President Synn Ilhi, for his contributions of engaging with 18 universities and institutions in Uzbekistan, and promoting alliance and cultural exchanges between the two countries
Synn Ilhi, president of Keimyung University, received an honorary doctorate from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies on April 16. The honorary doctorate degree ceremony was held online at 8 p.m. at the Seongseo Campus of Keimyung University. Rikhsieva, president of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Kim Nam-seok, chairman of Keimyung University, and 11 Keimyung professors joined the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Synn delivered a special lecture under the title "Beyond Tashkent" to the participants. Emphasizing the importance of creating a more peaceful and rational world through exchanges between our cultures and ethics, President Shin expressed his appreciation for the cultural and historical significance of Tashkent, evoking the spirit of the Silk Roads regions.
After President Synn’s lecture, President Rikhsieva remarked, “Since 2001, President Synn has actively engaged in exchange activities with 18 universities and institutions in Uzbekistan, greatly contributing to the promotion of friendship and cultural exchanges between the two countries. In honor of these achievements, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies is proud to confer this honorary doctorate on behalf of Uzbekistan and to consider the two universities as part of one family.” The degree and uniform were received locally by Kim Sun-jung, the vice president of Keimyung University.
"I accept this honorary doctorate with both great pride and immense gratitude. I believe it is Keimyung University, not just myself, that is receiving this honor. I look forward to further revitalizing exchanges with Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies in the future," President Synn said in his acceptance speech.
Keimyung University has been selected for Global e-School project by Korea Foundation, collaborating with Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies to offer Korean language and studies education programs. Academic and cultural exchanges between the two institutions have been actively facilitated through overseas student volunteer programs and training programs for faculty members.
